Our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) work collaboratively with all team members, under the direction of an RN, to provide a variety of support services that meet patient, family, and staff needs. These essential members of the nursing team contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care by working efficiently and effectively within the operation of the patient care unit. CNAs across the system are dedicated to addressing patient needs including comfort and the distribution of clinical information.

Medical Surgical

Medical Surgery

Our medical-surgical units serve patients in neurology, infectious disease, renal, family medicine, geriatrics, cardiology and more. These units continue to improve patient education and decrease readmissions using the teach-back method, whereby the team assess a patient’s understanding of new concepts while preparing them for self-care after discharge. Our medical-surgical nurses bring a wealth of experience and diverse backgrounds to the units as they receive strong support from their managers and unit educators. We welcome experienced acute care nurses as well as candidates from other nursing environments such as acute and sub-acute rehab.

Emergency Department

The Emergency Department (ED) at BMC evaluates nearly 132,000 patients annually as the tenth busiest ED in the country, treating the highest volume of trauma victims in New England. We recently welcomed many of our Medical-Surgical nurses to the ED for a 6-month residency to support their professional growth and development within the organization. Nurses who are successful in this fast-paced environment enjoy the challenge of managing diverse clinical scenarios as they work collaboratively with their teams.

Perioperative Services

With 42 bays in our PACU and 16 Operating Rooms, BMC performs the most complex procedures. Nurses in these areas have competencies in pediatric ALS, EP, IR, TAVR, and more. In our hybrid OR, we combine perioperative technology with cutting edge imaging capabilities. As we further our commitment to innovative technology, our new ORs are outfitted with booms to accommodate laparoscopic equipment, creating an environment for interdisciplinary collaboration, continuous learning, and exceptional patient outcomes.
