POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Acupuncturist at Boston Medical Center, you will be working with our Program for Integrative Medicine on a mission to provide our patients with evidence-based, well-rounded care. Your primary goal is to provide patient-centered care and advocate for their well-being and healing. Using your Acupuncture licensure, you will assess, treat, and recommend the course of care for our patients. You are also responsible for inputting, maintaining, and communicating accurate and thorough notes per patient visit in our Electronic Health System, Epic and with the remainder of the team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Evaluate and assess patient condition by conducting brief health history
- Maintain safe and clean treatment environment and adhering to the Family Medicine Melnea Cass Clinic sanitary procedures
- Administer acupuncture treatment using sterile, single use needles at specified locations to address patient and/or referring provider's chief complaint
- Evaluate effects of treatments by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; modifying when necessary
- Document patient encounters by charting in Epic
- Educate patients on benefits and risks of acupuncture treatment
- Light cleaning and maintaining an inventory of supplies as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Master's Degree in Acupuncture from an accredited institution
PhD preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine)
- Current Acupuncture license in the state of Massachusetts
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years of work as a Licensed Acupuncturist
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to make patients feel safe and comfortable during acupuncture treatments
- Exceptional time management and ability to treat multiple patients per hour
- Confident and positive disposition
- Able to work weekends/evenings (if applicable)
- Able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
